WANDERING AROUND SUNNY BRISBANE

14:09

Colourful, bright and busy day in Brisbane.
Last week my sister and I both had a day off, so we decided to spend the day in Brisbane!

We truly enjoy wandering around that place. There's always something new to discover! And with a population of just over 2 million (compared to Sydney's 4 million), it becomes a big city to happily get lost in, but not so big and overpopulated to feel too overwhelmed. I even bumped into two of my friends!

This time, we explored through the West End area, and our first stop was morning tea at The Three Monkeys' Cafe. A splendid choice.

One of the Three Monkey's coffee areas. That group of people at the end were film students filming a scene (or that's what we imagined they would be)

Entering this cafe is like going into the rabbit hole: you don't really expect how spacious and randomly decorated it is. This, in fact, is what makes it somehow so magical. All the anachronistic and multicultural mismatched decorations (ballet flats nailed to the wall, next to the tribal statues?), dimmed mysterious lighting, and the unexpected space design, without forgetting their signature colossal chai lattes, make this cafe an unmissable stopover in the city (check their Facebook to find them)

Yes, that is a full-on bowl of chai latte goodness.
West End is the place to go if you enjoy street colourfulness, charming boutiques of all kinds, great food, and op-shops (thrift shops). Who am I kidding? You definitely have to go there. You won't regret it!

"Street art" eye candy.

Another place to go if in Brisbane for us is GOMA (Gallery Of Modern Art). The art collections are usually quite interesting, but, most importantly, you can't not go to the children section. They always have a separate collection for kids, which mainly include interactive and very creative areas.

I mean, yes, you might have to deal with the fact that you will probably be the tallest person in the room, but who cares, as long as you can spend your time making Lego creations, standing in a room demonstrating how an earthquake would feel like, making a wish bracelet, or putting together surrealistic b&w collages? I have done all done, and it's been even more awesome than it sounds.

Anyway, this time around we made face masks and played arcade games, all based on the current theme which was Australian native art. We had fun painting our animal face masks!

That day I was finally wearing my new gets –the "cross-stitched" red bomber jacket, the stripy black shirt, and my amazing new Parfums Givenchy bag! Okay, probably not a very expensive bag, but it's so comfortable, simplistic and chic... I just love it. It's like a fancy take on an essential book bag.

If I was still at Uni I would definitely use this to carry my books and notepads.

And last, but definitely not least, I introduce you to my new cut-out boots. They were very happy to finally see the sun!
